What were Knights

A knight is a person granted an honorary title of knighthood. During the Middle Ages knighthood was considered lower nobility. By the late middle ages the rank had become assosiated with the ideals of Chivalry. Chivalry is a code of conduct for the perfect courtly Christian warrior. Often a knight was a vassal who served as the fighter for a noble with payment in the form of land holdings. Knights are warriors who rode on horseback and foot and fought. When they fought there was no room beside each other charging at the enemy. All the knights were only men and no women involved. Most knights came from noble families. Some knights were rich and powerful and others lived in wonderful castle and were poor.
